During the 1920s an Austrian biologist named Paul Kammerer designed an experiment to prove that Lamarckian inheritance was possible. Eventually he announced that he had succeeded… But, in 1926, the experiment was unveiled as a fraud, and Kammerer committed suicide a few days later.
